Another depressing fact is that those on Job Bridge schemes are removed from the Live Register figures during the course of their internship.

So these people are in effect on training schemes and being paid very little (50 euro p.w on top of any benefits received from the Department of Social Protection) but it seems as though they are in paid employment.

Also, the Live Register figures don't give a full account of unemployment as these figures only measure individuals who are entitled to receive some form of unemployment benefits.

Thus, these figures exclude anyone who is not entitled (for whatever reason) to receive these payments.

Emigration and people returning to further study are also not factored in to these sets of figures.

Although the ''principal economic status'' figures may measure this, people may choose to describe themselves as in education (as opposed to unemployed).
