Thanks for that Michael. I think FDR was a rare man in politics who had substance behind his rhetoric. All the more uplifting for that, on a day that might also live in 'infamy' on our small island.


If Labour are to accept TINA and "we are where we are", shouldn't there at least come a price tag for going along with this? How about, at a minimum, a new police unit (independent from) the Guards, tasked with weeding out financial and political corruption and wrong-doing?

The Guards themselves are clearly incapable of carrying out this role, and Labour ought to demand something in return for the line being drawn on behaviour in "the past", as seems likely to happen yet again in Irish public life.
